Meet Alex Jean: December’s Interview with a Blogger

Meet Alex Jean! December’s Interview with a Blogger

Let’s Start with Some Basics:

1. First, tell me a little about you – your “elevator pitch,” so to speak.

Hey there – I’m Alex and I provide Pinterest Management Services to businesses. I also run a Lifestyle blog, Simply Alex Jean.

2. What about your blog, Simply Alex Jean? How would you describe that?

My blog is a little bit of everything! It’s a lifestyle-focused blog, so I cover a wide array of topics, but the main pillars of what I cover are chronic illness, essential oils, Pinterest, and organization.

How would I describe it? That’s a great question – I try my best to provide content that is helpful and informative to people but also is relatable and fresh!

3. You’re also a Pinterest Manager – can you tell me a little more about that?

I LOVE Pinterest! Pinterest is a search engine, so it runs quite differently than most people think – I hear all the time people approach it like a social media platform. Pinterest is highly focused on keywords and SEO!

As a Pinterest Manager, I take all the stress and time away from business owners by running their Pinterest Business Accounts. I help manage all day-to-day that goes into the back end so all they see is the sales and traffic from the site. Pinterest (like most things on the internet) is always evolving, so it’s a great space for me to be consciously learning in.

Right now, I’ve got a fantastic group of clients, as well as one-off service I provide to bloggers or businesses. Spending all day every day on Pinterest is a dream come true for me.

4. How would you describe your ideal reader?

My ideal reader is wanting to learn more about essential oils, has a chronic illness, or is wanting to learn how to grow their Pinterest. Honestly, I just enjoy providing content to folks and I’ve attracted a wide array of different viewers!

5. What are your favorite topics to write about?

For me, my favorites are Pinterest and Chronic Illness.

Pinterest because of how much I love it. I also spend a lot of time learning about the platform, so I love helping others succeed!

And I enjoy writing about my chronic illness journey and hopefully helping others going through the same thing.

6. What was your most successful blog post?

I have two, actually, that are tied as being the most successful:

I honestly enjoyed writing both as both have been firsthand ways I’ve used essential oils to help with my health.

7. Why should readers subscribe to your blog? 

Right now, I’m working on a new freebie that will be packed with Pinterest Tips. I’m also working on creating a Freebie Library where I’ll be putting out a minimum of 4 new freebies a year (about organization, essential oils, and Pinterest.)

And, finally, I send out a bi-monthly newsletter with extra tips, blog updates, or promotions I’m running with my Pinterest Services.

8. How would you describe your blogging style – what’s your “voice” as a blogger? 

I write from my own experience. I try to think about things that can be read and viewed by lots of people and can hopefully be relatable. My voice is mainly trying to provide direct and supportive content to help my readers.

9. Is blogging your full-time job?

My Pinterest Management is my full-time job, my blog is slowly starting to make money but it is right now a side gig. I hope one day that both will be providing substantial income as I really enjoy putting my time into both!

10. Can you share the primary ways you earn money from blogging?

Right now, the main way I make money from blogging is through advertisements and affiliate marketing.

11. How much time do you spend blogging?

As I mentioned above my full-time job is Pinterest which takes most of my week given my client load. Right now, I spend anywhere from between 3-9 hours blogging a week, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on my Management business.

12. How do you stay motivated as a blogger?

I am super goal orientated and have to write things down. So, for myself, I make a list of what I want to do that month with my blog and that list helps motivate me. I also have a blogging coach who helps keep me on track and moves me along to what I need to be doing next with my blog!

Finally, Let’s Learn A Bit More About You as a Person

13. Your Myers Briggs Type is ISFJ – the defender. Do you think that describes you well? 

I feel for the most part this represents me well. I’ve done Myers Briggs every 2-3 years for about 15 years now and always get different results because I’m adapting and changing to life and where I’m at.

Right now, I think the defender does describe me well with being more introverted, highly sensing, and feelings-oriented. Plus, the defender is known as being warm hearted, responsible, and reserved – that is definitely me!

14. If you could only choose 3 words to describe you, what words would it be? 

This is a tough one, but I like it. Responsible, Caring, and Organized would be the three I would pick for me.

15. Lastly, What do you like to do in your free time?

Right now, my free time is dedicated to packing as we’re moving soon! Outside of that, I love to go for walks, listen to podcasts, bake, crochet and dive into learning more about what excites me.
